Meet our Governors
Julie Cliff – Chair of Governors/SEND Governor/Co-opted Governor
I have been a governor at Cambridge Nursery School for over 20 years and I have overseen many changes including the planning and development of the Children’s Centre and the current building. I am a mum of three children all of whom have attended the nursery. My eldest daughter has cerebral palsy and it was very important that her time at nursery was happy so there was no other choice it had to be Cambridge Nursery. I currently work as a maths teacher in a secondary school so have extensive knowledge of the two ends of the school spectrum.
Kim Brennan – Vice Chair/Parent Governor
I am really enjoying my role as parent governor. I wanted to get involved because I am a mum to four children and I would like all children including my own who currently attends Cambridge to thrive. I hope to be able to represent other parents to make sure that school provides the best opportunities and experiences for all our children. I have been a teacher for 12 years now, specialising in education for those with learning difficulties and disabilitoes. I hope my experience can prove useful as a member of the governing body.
Jonathan Grimley – Staff Governor
My name is Jonathan Grimley and I am a teacher at Cambridge Nursery School. I am the staff governor on the governing body. I became a member of the governors in order to share classroom experience with other members of the governing body. I wanted to help make decisions that will benefit all of those who come I into the nursery, this includes children, families, staff and visitors.
Cathy Taylor – Safeguarding Governor/Wellbeing Governor
My name is Cathy Taylor and I am community, safeguarding and well-being Governor. I became a Governor when working as Centre Manager of Cambridge Children’s Centre and when that role ceased I felt that I wanted to carry on supporting the children and families who attend the nursery. I contiue to offer my spare time to youth work in the community . I currently work as a partnership and engagement officer for the disclosure and barring service..
Dave Robinson – LA Governor
Debbie Clark- Headteacher
I was appointed as headteacher in July 2010 and took up the post in January 2011 full time after a term of working as an executive head over my previous school and cambridge. I have been teaching for 29 years and have worked in three different local authoriies. I started my career in Yorkshire , moved over the pennines to lancashire and joined Sefton in 1997 as a nursery teacher at another maintained nursery school. After a two periods of acting headship I gained my first headship in 2004.
Over the years I have been fourtunate to be involved in national and international projects through commenius funding. I also served as an early years advisory teacher ,supportting private and volunatry settings. I have continued my professional development gaining the National Senco Award, NPQH and a Masters in Education.
My biggest acheivement is being a mum to my two children my son who is in his final year of university and my daughter who is in year 10.
Although I have worked as a class teacher in all the primary phases my passion lies in the early years. I am proud to serve our familes and community in Cambridge.
