Attendance Expectations
Attendance at Cambridge Nursery School
At Cambridge Nursery School, we know that regular attendance makes a big difference to children’s learning, confidence and friendships.
We regularly monitor our attendance data. If attendance dips we will invite families into school to discuss barriers you are facing. Our Pastoral Support may offer you specific targeted support to ensure it improves.
Why attendance matters
When children come to nursery every day, they quickly settle into routines, practise important early skills, and enjoy a wide range of play and learning experiences.
For example, a child who attends regularly is more likely to:
build their vocabulary
join in with group activities
develop confidence to try new things
form friendships and learn to take turns
These early experiences support children’s wellbeing now and help prepare them for school later on.
When your child is absent
We understand that children may sometimes be unwell or have important reasons for missing nursery.
If your child is not attending, please let us know as soon as possible so we can make sure they are safe and accounted for.
Working together
Regular attendance is one of the best ways to help your child succeed and enjoy nursery life. When children are here every day, they get the most out of learning, build strong relationships, and feel confident in their routines.
