What to Expect When Starting

Starting at Cambridge Nursery School

We know that starting nursery is a big step for children and families. At Cambridge Nursery School we want every child to feel happy, safe, and confident from their very first day.

Before your child starts, we invite you to join our Stay and Play 'pre-visit' session. These sessions give children a chance to explore the classroom, meet their keyworker, and make friends in a calm and friendly environment. Parents can stay and see how their child enjoys activities and play. Plus it gives you the opportunity to tell us everything we need to know about your child, to help them settle as quickly as possible.

During the first few weeks, children will settle in at their own pace. Some children feel ready to stay for a full session straight away, while others may need extra visits to feel confident. Staff will work closely with you to make sure your child feels comfortable, safe, and supported.

At Cambridge, we want every child to enjoy learning through play, make friends, and feel proud of themselves. By starting nursery in a gentle and welcoming way, children get the best chance to grow, explore, and succeed.
